July 3, 2004 Baltimore, MDStory & photos by Brian Chapman
Annual: This was the sixth Camden Yards Jam. Location: Well, they don't call it the Camden Yards Jam for nothing. It's held at Camden Yards in Baltimore right next to the M & T Bank Stadium where the Ravens play. Right over the lot were two enormous overpass ramps which provided shade for all the riders and made the jam a rain-or-shine event. The smooth lot had a very shallow slope which was perfect for rolling tricks. Nice! Organized: Very. I guess Kevin and 3Ride found out when the stadium lot was not going to be in use and scheduled the jam then. They even took the time to plan the after-jam festivities at the the 3Ride shop complete with indoor post-jam jam session and Diversion 4.0 video premiere. Turnout: Possibly 30 riders showed up in all. Not the biggest turnout but the quality of the jam more than made up for that. Duration: Well, my friend Mike Lanno and I got there around 12:30 or 1 in the afternoon and rode until the sun was going down around 7. Then we all headed over to the 3Ride shop to ride some more into the evening hours and watch Diversion 4.0. Highlights: The whole setup was perfect. It was summer in Baltimore so it gets pretty damn hot. Having the jam under the highway was genius. The after-party riding session/video premiere was the most intimate session I've ever been to. Downsides: I got a $74 ticket for running a stop sign about 100 yards from the jam.
