Jams 2004 by Brian Chapman

Summer's gone ladies and gentlemen, and that is why I finally have time to scan some pictures and write a little bit about a couple of the flatland jams that took place in the northeast this year.

While waiting for the first snowfall of the year to melt, I sat and tried to remember riders' names and other specifics of each jam from months back. I managed to partially refresh my memory with the help of my pictures. There were still some blanks but you'll get the gist of it. I apologize for taking so long to do this -- I've been a procrastinator extraordinaire this year. So thanks for being patient and thanks especially to all the riders who take the time to drive hours on end to ride with other flatlanders.

Someday people will see how much more important jams are than contests. Screw ESPN and the X-Games -- it's not about who wins, it's about who is having the same amazing experience on a bike. It's about finally landing that trick you've been working on all summer in front of 20 other riders. It's about no stress situations and hanging out with friends. It's just about having a good time.
