Earth Crisis
I had heard and read a lot about Earth Crisis, so I was kind of anxious to hear this. Straight edge is good, veganism is good, heavy metal is bad. They may have a positive message (though unrealistic except in a utopian world), but many of the lyrics come off as kinda high-schooly ("Earth liberation through ecodefense to halt the insanity of the yellow death machines") and hard to take seriously. Of course, this album is so old and reviewed to death that you already know all this.

El Bad
This album is peppered with some short, stupid interludes, but between them you'll hear more music from Greg Ginn. The songs tend to sound alike-fast and distorted with gravelly vocals-but that's not necessarily bad. El Bad breaks the mold on one song, "Boy and Cat," by slowing things down...which doesn't work out. The rest isn't bad, though; it's decent and not without energy. And at the very least, it's better than Gone.
