The Queers
Don't Back Down
The Queers' latest album doesn't topple Beat Off as their best record; in fact, I don't even think it's better than their last one, Move Back Home. But it is a good album. Don't Back Down has a lot of their Ramones-style poppy punk ("I'm OK, You're Fucked", "I Only Drink Bud"), but also has a couple slower, sappy love songs ("Number One", "I Always Knew"). And Joe continues showing his appreciation of the Beach Boys with a cover of "Don't Back Down". It took a little while for this album to grow on me, but it did: "Another Girl", "Love Love Love", and the title song are some of the standouts here.
