"This website su*ks ass"

A recent post on the (now-defunct) eWire MessageBoard:

"This website su*ks ass. Maybe you should put new riding stuff on it and get rid or that same old crap thats always on here. It seems like the only reason people even go to the eWire site is to go on the discussion board and write sh*t. I think you should concentrate on riding more and update this shit. I doubt if anyone even comes on this site to look at the music crap. Notice how there is nothing mention about music in the discussion board because no one gives a sh*t about the stupid music. Just put more riding in and get off your fat asses cause this site su*ks the pickle!!"

Well, I feel I have to respond to this. So here's the deal with eWire, just so you understand:

I do eWire for me. Not you, not anybody else — just myself. It's a creative outlet for me (and a portfolio piece), and I do whatever the hell I want. This isn't a "real" magazine site — it's just a personal site, and I don't make any money from it (despite the ads). I don't do it to win friends or be cool. I put what I like on the site, and if other people enjoy it, cool. If not, I couldn't care less. Go to another site.

I do eWire by myself in my spare time. If I don't have much (or any) spare time, eWire doesn't get updated. I work 60 hours a week, I like to spend time with my wife & friends, I do some freelancing, and we're currently shopping for a house. That doesn't leave a whole lot of free time to sit in front of a computer and come up with stuff to keep you entertained. But I still update eWire every month, and there are few riding sites on the web that actually update their stuff regularly.

There's more to life than bikes. If you don't like the music stuff, don't read it — I couldn't care less. Perhaps if I covered Korn or Limp Bizkit, people would like that better. But that music sucks; you can read about that in Rolling Stone or watch it on MTV.

If you want more riding on eWire, how about shutting up and being constructive? Stop complaining and help me out! If I had more help, eWire would be updated more often and with more riding content. I've been getting some help with music interviews, which is why that section is updated frequently. But with riding stuff, I'm still on my own — and now it's winter, so I'm riding even less than usual. Go to the contribution guidelines page, send me some stuff, and we'll see how good your writing and photos are.

(And as far as the discussion board anonymous shit-writing goes — of which this person is all to happy to contribute to — I'll be taking care of that soon.)
